Danang city’s People Committee awarding a certificate of merit to Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology
Danang city’s People Committee awarded a certificate of merit to Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Tan CC Construction Ltd. for practical and useful contribution to Danang city’s development given the water sewerage project in Hoa Chau on 19th July, 2016.
Giving an address at the certificate of merit awarding ceremony, Mr. Thai Ngoc Trung, Vice Director of Danang city’s Department of Construction expressed his appreciation to Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Tan CC Construction Ltd. for the successful research and implementation of the water sewerage project in Hoa Chau. Given the duration of a three year period from May 2013 to May 201, the project was co-implemented by Tan CC Construction Ltd., Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology in collaboration with Danang City on the area of 600 ha with the total allotted expenditure of 957 million VND.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Hoai, the project leader, as part of Cam Le and Qua Giang rivers – a low land area, Hoa Chau is severely affected by flood from Vu Gia -Thu Bon river system. Therefore, a study on flood levels in Hoa Chau requires a research on a larger scale over the Vu Gia – Thu Bon river system. This means a research on flood level scenarios for the whole Danang city and part of Quang Nam province is a must. Furthermore, since an area of the ancient village located in Hoa Chau, a preservation was also taken into account while doing planning. While doing surveying and research, a number of solutions were proposed and presented at discussion meetings and debates among governmental agencies and offices making them well harmonious with the overall objectives of the city planning.

The successful implementation of the water sewerage project in Hoa Chau enables to link it to the regional water sewerage system. This has minimized relevant clearness and compensation costs, flood impact on low land areas, at the same time, built an eco-zone for the whole area. In addition, the project team who conducted the project built a mathematical model simulating a flood process for Hoa Chau area, Danang City and Quang Nam province. A GIS based map of flood covered area upon frequency was accomplished.

The project team is about to make a GIS based map of the flood covered areas that helps governmental offices in management, design and planning determine flood levels upon frequency at all locations in Danang city. The detailed design of the water sewerage system in Hoa Chau based on a planned water sewerage system has been conducted.
