Seminar on “Future of Manufacturing – Industry 4.0: Cheaper – Faster – Better”
14 November 2018: Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT), the Consulate General of Italy in Ho Chi Minh City, Salvagnini Company co-organized the seminar on “the Future of Manufacturing – Industry 4.0”. The objective of this seminar is to highlight and discuss the different implications of this process of innovation in the different supply chain levels, with a focus on steel industry. One of the major topics will be related to automation and the related connectivity given by the IT technologies. The idea is that, in introducing automation, you will not lose in manufacturing flexibility and that automation is not the equivalent to mass production.
Attending the Seminar was Mr. Dante Brandi, Consul General of Italy in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Roberto Cajati, Deputy Consul General of Italy in Ho Chi Minh City, representatives of over 50 Italian and Vietnamese companies, business associations, Ho Chi Minh City Centre of Trade and Investment Promotion, reporters of media and televisions. From Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, there was the participation of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mai Thanh Phong, Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Danh Thao, Vice-Rector, representatives of External Relations Office – HCMUT, lecturers and students of relevant Faculties.
After the opening remarks by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mai Thanh Phong and Mr. Dante Brandi, the Seminar focused on presentations of latest innovation in manufacturing process and smart factory such as: SMART FACTORY- THE RISE OF SOCIAL INDUSTRY (Mr. Rick Hansson – Head of Process & Application, SALVAGNINIGROUP); The 4 M Integration in PIAGGIO VIETNAM (Mr. Daniele Landini – Director of Operation, PIAGGIO Vietnam); THE DANIELI INTELIGENT PLANT (Mr. Marco Ometto – Executive Vice President, DANIELI AUTOMATION, DIGI&MET) and SALVAGNINIGROUP – WE ARE INDUSTRY 4.0 (Mr. Giovanni Pivetta – Head of Marketing, SALVAGNINIGROUP). Representing academics at HCMUT, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tan Tien also introduced the curriculum for Preparing Mechatronics Student to 4.0 Industry Revolution, human resource for 4.0 and cooperation with Salvagnini.
The Seminar was a great success in the way that it opened up a good platform to answer challenging questions for industrial players, manufacturers, employees, academics on solutions to the disruptive effects of the digital revolution.
