That Thong Nhat Hospital and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) have become partners in research, technology transfer and joint training opens up new opportunities for both sides to collaborate for the patients – centerred target. Many new technological products will be deployed effectively at the Hospital to improve its health system to serve people in Southern Vietnam.
The signing ceremony of cooperation between Thong Nhat Hospital and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology took place in the afternoon of 02 July 2020. This cooperation program aims at training high-quality human resources and develop applied technology to meet practical requirements in the health sector.

Attending the ceremony, from Thong Nhat Hospital, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Dinh Thanh – Secretary of Communist Party Committee and Hospital Director; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Do Kim Que – Vice- Director as well as leaders of its attached units. On the side of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mai Thanh Phong – the University’s President; Assoc.Prof. Dr. Tran Thien Phuc – Vice-presidenrt and leaders of its related offices and faculties.
As agreed by the two sides, this cooperation program has drawn out the following main contents:
– Developing programs and jointly organize a training course on “Operation, maintenance of artificial kidney dialysis” at Thong Nhat Hospital.
– Developing a plan for organizing a training course on “Application of information technology in hospital management” applied at Thong Nhat hospital.
– Developing and implementing the electronic medical record program for the Hospital.
– Oragnizing HCMUT students’s visit to the Hospital to improve the teaching quality.
– Collaborating to research on clinical application of the University’s medical equipment at the Hospital
– Collaborating to promote to students the recruitment programs, internship, contests and exchange activities between the University and the Hospital.
– Collaborating to develop E-learning training program for Thong Nhat Hospital
In addition, the two sides also work together in a variety of recruitment programs, internships, and other potential activities.
Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Dinh Thanh – Director of Thong Nhat Hospital remarked that this signing ceremony with Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology is very meaningful in the way that it serves as an important milestone and foundation for new successes of both sides in the future.

“Most of the equipment and technology being used in Thong Nhat Hospital and other domestic ones are originated from foreign countries. Despite its feasible ultilization, it is not always suitable for all Vietnamese people. This cooperation with Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology is considered as one of the highlights promising innovative and appropriate techniques to serve the Vietnamese citizens in the most effective way “- Associate Professor Le Dinh Thanh shared.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Dinh Thanh also shared that, in spite of having a close relationship with Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology for a long time, it has been until this date to kick-off a specific program and deep cooperation in each paricular scope. Director of Thong Nhat Hospital also expresses his great trust in the faculties of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology – the pioneer of innovative science and technology in Southern Vietnam.

Assoc.Prof. Dr. Mai Thanh Phong – HCMUT President believe that this collaboration will bring many mutual benefits for both the University and the Hospital. The Hospital will be able to improve the capacity of its staff by giving them opportunities to access to new science and technology. On the other hand, the University’s staff and students are granted the access to modern equipment as well as opportunities for studying and enhancing their career skills, increasing the possibility to apply for mid-level or highly- ranked positions at large companies.
Recently, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology has introduced many science and technology products designed, manufactured and transferred by the University’s affiliated units and individuals to support in the prevention of from Covid-19 pandemic, which thereby proves the high capacity of the University in technological area.
Therefore, the partnership between Thong Nhat Hospital and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology will contribute to increasing the practical application of the researches and new techniques developed by the University’s staff and students to treat patients while supporting the hospital’s doctors to fulfil their mission of taking good care of the people’s health.
