Agreement signing ceremony between SAMCO and HCMUT

In Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT), on 6 September, 2016, Saigon Transportation Mechanical Corporation   (SAMCO) and HCMUT entered into a MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (“MOU”) on Higher Education, Science Research and Technology Transfer.

Mr. Tran Quoc Toan – the General Director, Mr. Ho Trong Tien – Deputy General Director along with other department leaderships represented the corporation to join the ceremony. The participants from HCMUT include Prof. Dr. Vu Dinh Thanh – the Rector, Prof. Dr. Mai Thanh Phong – Vice Rector, Representatives of External Relations Office, Research & Development and Internal Project Office, Research Center for Technology and Industrial Equipment, Faculty Leaderships of Transportation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical – Electronics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Technology and Environment Faculty.

At the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Vu Dinh Thanh – the Rector expressed his excitement for the successful conclusion of the previous cooperation activities and hoped that this Memorandum of Understanding would help further cooperation for mutual interests of. Especially, the Rector expressed his special appreciation to board of directors who have kindly supported and accompanied with the event.

At the ceremony, HCMUT and SAMCO discussed on the higher education supporting, the research targets to develop and apply new technology in automotive industry field as well as sharing their specialized experience to meet the practical demands. The cooperation offered good opportunities for deeper collaborations e.g. joint student scholarship program, joint field trips, joint research and partnership for technology transfer between SAMCO and HCMUT.  

The ceremony marked an important milestone for a sustainable cooperation between SAMCO and HCMUT. The MOU and its addendum were also signed under the witness of all attending representatives.

SAMCO is known as state-owned enterprise – multi-field business activities, with each of the fields playing an important part in the city’s socio-economic development, gather numerous resources, mutual assistance and cooperation abilities in several areas includes: trading in automobiles; supplying genuine auto spare parts and providing maintenance and repair services for various vehicles such as Toyota, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Daewoo, Mercedes-Benz, v.v; manufacturing and assembling types of buses and special purpose trucks on bare chassis imported from Isuzu, Mitsubishi, Mercedes-Benz, Hino, Daewoo, … In addition, SAMCO has manufacturing mechanical engineering as a key industry designated by the government as one of the four corporations undertaking a key task of developing Vietnam’s automotive industry.
