The internship in Europe of five HCMUT students within GREENUS Project
The internship in Europe as part of the GREENUS project has been a resounding success, providing valuable and beneficial experiences for the students from three Vietnamese universities.
Taking place over a period of 3 weeks, from June 12th to July 3rd, 2023, four undergraduate students and one graduate student from the Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology participated in the internship in Europe alongside 10 students from Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Can Tho University.
The internship was conducted at three different locations, offering students the opportunity to immerse themselves in diverse learning environments. In the first week, students attended courses on “Circular Economy” at Sapienza University in Rome, Italy. Here, professors from Sapienza provided students with a deeper understanding of the principles and applications of the circular economy model, focusing on waste reduction and resource optimization.
During the second week, the internship moved to Hellenic Mediterranean University, where students participated in a course on “Utilization of Bioresources from Agriculture”. This course explored efficient utilization of agricultural waste and its conversion into valuable recycled resources.
Finally, the internship concluded at Jagiellonian University in Poland, where students were exposed to the subject of “Energy and Fuels from Waste”. This course provided students with insights into generating energy and fuels from waste through advanced technologies.
In addition to attending the courses, students had the opportunity to practice in state-of-the-art laboratories and visit waste management companies in Italy, Greece, and Poland. Through these visits and hands-on experiences, students directly observed and learned about the practical applications of waste management processes and environmental protection measures.
The GREENUS internship has provided students with interesting knowledge and valuable experiences in circular economy, resource utilization, and energy from waste. This internship not only expanded students’ professional expertise but also contributed to raising awareness and environmental consciousness among the younger generation.
