Volunteer Civil Engineer Interpreters

A team of MBA candidates from Canada is seeking Civil Engineering students interested in volunteering as interpreters during their upcoming visit to Vietnam. Volunteers will be participating in product demonstrations and meeting senior executives and officials from the concrete and commercial construction industry.

What you bring: To be successful at and enjoy this opportunity, you:

Are fluent in spoken and written English.
Have strong communication skills and are comfortable speaking in front of a group of people.
Understand that interpretation is not always just a literal translation of what is being said, but may also include providing cultural context to an activity.
Are familiar with reinforced concrete curing and construction methods.
Enjoy meeting new people.

When & where: Volunteers will be needed to attend training sessions and attend product demonstrations during the week of April 23^rd to 27^th. Actual times depend on need and may vary from daytime to evening depending on the final schedule. Shortlisted candidates will need to be available for at least one web meeting with the Canadian team in early to mid April 2018.

Commitment: A minimum attending 1 training session and 2 meetings at customer sites during the week of April 23^rd to April 27^th, each meeting should last approximately 1 to 2 hours.

How we’ll support you: You’ll receive an initial orientation on a web call with the Canadian MBA team to go over the details of the meeting schedule, your availability, and the product we’ll be presenting. You’ll will work in partnership with the team leads from the Canadian university.

Good to know: You may be assessed on your interpreting skills before being accepted. Volunteers will need to be flexible in their availability as the meeting schedule may change.
